Joins Council

The
Republican Party’s five-year absence
from the Township Council officially
came to an end Tuesday when John
O’Sullivan was sworn in and joined the
council for his first meeting.
Mr. O’Sullivan defeated Democratic
incumbent Mahesh “Mac” Shah in last
week’s election with a vote total of
5,244 to 5,069, the first time a
Republican has won a council election
since 2000.

Republican Wins Seat On South Brunswick Council

SOUTH BRUNSWICK -- A Republican has won a seat on South Brunswick’s
Democratically-controlled council, beating-out appointed incumbent
Mahesh “Mac” Shah to finish the remaining three years of that term.
John G. O’Sullivan overtook Shah by 175 votes, garnering 5,244 to
knock Shah out of a seat he’s held since January. The 61-year-old
O’Sullivan, a retired security manager, ran a campaign...

already! Time for Republican John O'Sullivan to take a seat on the
council. Township business is all hush-hush now, no one to tell

Into the Valley of Debt rode the
taxpayers of South Brunswick.
Recently the South Brunswick Township
Council passed a $49M budget, which they
declared “difficult”, but required
deferring $1.3M in pension payments to
be repaid beginning in 2012.
This is spend now, pay later.

Last week the [South
Brunswick] Township Council began preliminary discussions for the new
budget. They are considering deferring $1.3 million in pension payments
to reduce the budget amount for next year. This, like the decisions of
to many of our corporate CEO's, is a short-term solution that will
create long term hardships.
