hat “garbage” is the Democratic controlled South Brunswick Township
Council recycling to the taxpayers? I was shocked and dismayed to
read a newspaper editorial “Council cheats taxpayers on South Brunswick
recycling deal”.

neighboring communities who helped make our
South Brunswick Food Pantry fundraiser a
true success. We especially are grateful to the Stop &
Shop stores on Route 1 and Route 522 for
allowing us to collect for five days in an
effort to fill the pantry for the upcoming
holiday.

Wafting on the top of the flag pole is Old Glory, the
American flag, that symbol of America which flies on top of our state
educational and government buildings. As a symbol of America, it
means a lot. Now we hear that American flags are being made
overseas. We cannot have this.

Council Approves
Township Budget

The
Township Council voted unanimously on
Tuesday to adopt a $49.57 million budget
for 2008.
The spending plan calls for the tax rate
to remain at 62.5 cents per $100 of
assessed value, the same as it was in
2007. Under this rate the owner of a
home assessed at the township average of
$194,400 will pay $1,215 in municipal
taxes in 2008.

of South Brunswick's GOP candidates hit the pavement April
6th to attend the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 9111 -
Sunday Breakfast at the Post's Henderson Road location.
While there, candidates Laura DeRuve and John O'Sullivan
introduced themselves to Si Volek, the Post Commander and
enjoyed breakfast with many South Brunswick Community members.

year ago this past November 2006 I wrote a letter about the
Mayor's telling of a whopper of an untruth about the
widening of Rt. 1. [See:
Route 1 Whopper]
Namely that it would commence within two or three years.
This colossal fabrication was uttered during the political
debate immediately preceding the '06 election.

Leaders
of the South Brunswick Republican Organization say the party
will be working hard to broaden its support and win local offices in
2008. The Republicans will be kicking off the effort with its
first public meeting of the year on Monday [Jan. 14th], starting at 7:30
p.m. at Pierre's Restaurant on Georges Road...
Republican organization chairman Roger Craig says he
believes the people of South Brunswick are tired of one party
controlling government. "You can't fly a plane with one wing, and
you can't run a government on one party," Mr. Craig said. "There
is an absence of discussion in the township government." ...
