(Trenton, NJ)…With
approximately 150 alumnae, all active in politics and government, in
every county in New Jersey, the Excellence in Public Service
Series would like to congratulate their alumnae who ran for office
this year, including:Class of 2008, and current Board
Member, Mary DePaola was elected to Scotch Plains Council;
Class of 2007, Linda Bobo was elected to Evesham Township
Committee, and Regina Egea was elected to Harding Township
Committee;
Class of 2006, Mary Chyb was a candidate for council in North
Brunswick;
Class of 2005, Lynda Woods Cleary was a candidate for
Middlesex County Freeholder; and Patricia Quattrocchi was a
candidate for Garwood Council;
and
Class of 2004, Joanne Cocchiola was elected Mayor of Nutley.
Janice Mintz, Chairman of the Board stated, "On behalf of the
Series, I congratulate each and every one of the women who stepped
up to try and make New Jersey a better place to live. For those who
did not win their elections, we encourage them to try again and are
confident they will remain vital members of progress in their
communities. To those who won, we congratulate their victory, and
look forward to hearing about their successes in elected office."
The Series, which is a New Jersey non-profit corporation,
provides leadership training for Republican women who are interested
in running for elected office, seeking appointments to key positions
at the county or state level, or assuming party leadership roles
office.
